Dance Artist – Classical Ballet specialisation

PREPARATORY PROFESSIONAL TRAINING

Becoming a dance artist at the highest level is only possible through years of well-structured training under the guidance of the best masters. The preparatory professional training aims to provide a physical and mental foundation for professional dance training, enabling students to continue their studies at the BA level and obtain a Dance Artist Diploma.

  • Includes: daily 3-5 dance classes, rehearsals and performances (6 days a week), focusing on their chosen dance discipline, complemented by other dance forms.
  • Prepares for BA studies. (End-term examination in Grade 6 is the entrance examination to BA studies.)
  • General academic education is provided only in Hungarian. Students and their families need to take care of the general education (e.g. home-schooling, distance learning).
  • Accommodation is provided at the on-campus dormitory.
  • Classical ballet specialisation is offered every year.
  • Admission from 14 years of age.
  • Classification into grades is based on age and skill level.
  • Vaganova based method.
DANCE ARTIST BA PROGRAMME

The aim of the programme is to train dance artists who are highly skilled in the dance language of their specialisation, as well as in other dance techniques. Graduates are well-prepared to work in a wide variety of dance companies around the world, with both practical skills and theoretical knowledge or to continue their studies at the MA level.

  • Includes: daily 3-5 dance classes (classical ballet, contemporary ballet, pas de deux complemented by other dance forms), rehearsals, and performances (6 days a week).
  • Dance studies and theory (history of music, history of arts, history of dance, motion biology, dance analysis, etc.) are also part of the curriculum.
  • Matura/baccalaureate (exam that allows entrance to higher education) has to be passed before graduating in dance studies. It can be obtained in the home country.
  • As a result of the programme, students receive a diploma, not just a certificate, so they can apply for a master’s degree and then a doctorate if they wish. – A minimum level of B1 English is required to obtain the diploma. (B1 language skills are primarily required to obtain a diploma, so if verification of completion of a programme at our University is sufficient, we can exempt you from the language requirements.)
  • Admission from 16 to 20 years of age.
  • Required former studies: 6 grades according to the Vaganova-based method completed
  • 3 years long training programme.
  • This specialisation and programme is offered every year.
  • Vaganova based method.
  • Classification into grades is based on age and skill level.
