The aim of the programme is to train dancers and coaches who are able to play an active role in dance culture and to represent the values of dance in international forums. They will have acquired the technical and theoretical knowledge to be able to participate in artistic life as dancers, coaches or as choreographers’ assistants. The programme is open to people with a baccalaureate (school-leaving certificate) or who obtain it in the year of application. One of the main purposes of the programme is to acquire diverse dance skills, to have insight into classical and contemporary dances, to develop their abilities, and skills and to extend their knowledge.
- Duration: 3 years
- Age Requirement: 16+
- Required former studies: Relevant former dance training (full professional ballet training); matura/baccalaureate/school-leaving certificate (an exam that allows entrance to higher education studies), and B1-level English.
- Award: BA Degree in Dancer and Coach specialised in classical ballet
In addition to dance practice, this programme places a strong emphasis on theoretical subjects such as psychology, pedagogy, motion biology, and dance history and theory. With a balanced approach between theory and practice, this programme includes fewer dance classes compared to the Dance Artist BA and aims to build a broad foundational skill set rather than preparing students for the highest levels of performance, while also equipping them for teaching responsibilities and rehearsal direction.
Matura/baccalaureate (exam that allows entrance to higher education) is compulsory to be admitted to the programme.
As a result of the programme, students receive a diploma, not just a certificate, so they can apply for a master’s degree and then a doctorate if they wish.
