The preparatory training for the modern dance specialisation of the dance artist BA provides a well-structured system of preparation, based on the indispensable modern dance techniques considered as classic in the field, contemporary techniques and the fundamentals of classical ballet. Ideally, children in the 8th grade are expected to take our entrance exam, which is organised every third year. The successful students will have a two-year preparatory course of the dance artist specialisation of the university. (Preliminary qualifications or training are not expected for the exam, but those with a modern dance background in primary arts education may find the exam less challenging.)
The training is adjusted to the most up-to-date expectations by our highly qualified experts with local and international experience. The outstanding teachers of the department with their successful artistic careers in Hungarian and foreign ensembles share their knowledge with the future generations.
Students learn modern dance techniques at the preparatory course – Graham, Limón, Cunningham, art jazz –, contemporary techniques – contact-technique, release plan, flying low –, partnering, classical ballet, improvisation, skills development for six days of the week. They will perform on stage from the first year at our own performances and those of our professional partners. Students who successfully complete these two years will be admitted to the modern dance specialisation (dance artist BA) and will finally graduate as dance artists.
