Following last year’s excellent performance, students of the Hungarian Dance University (HDU) will take part in the VIBE Ballet Competition to be held in Vienna in 2024 as well. This year three HDU students will visit the Austrian capital: Dóra Kócsó, Dóra Szepsi and Thália Egerházi, who will be accompanied by master teacher Eszter Kazinczy.
In 2023, eleven HDU students reached the Vienna finals, with six of them having performed at the gala of the VIBE international ballet competition. Saito Hiraku won the Senior Outstanding Performance Grand Prix.
Last year, twelve HDU students entered the competition in Vienna, however, as this year’s the competition will take place almost simultaneously with the 10th IBCDC Domenico Modugno International Ballet and Contemporary Dance Competition in Lecce, Italy, only three HDU students will be able to represent the university in Vienna.
VIBE will take place from 25 to 27 March at the Musik und Kunst Privatunivesitat der Stadt Wien (MUK) and MuTh. MuTh is Vienna’s most modern concert hall. It opened its doors in 2012, and the venue is enviable. MuTh supports both classical and contemporary arts, staging almost 300 productions a year. These include chamber music, children’s opera, orchestral evenings, dance projects, jazz performances, performances and contemporary music. Anyone who has been there knows it’s a great venue.
Performers of the VIBE Ballet Competition from the Hungarian Dance University are:
Dóra Kócsó, 6th year (Adam Mazilier – Petipa: Le Corsaire, Medora variation)
Dóra Szepsi, 7th year (Minkus – Petipa: Paquita, female variation)
Thália Egerházi, 8th year (Tchaikovsky – Ivanov: Swan Lake, 2nd act female variation)

We wish the HDU participants good luck!
