HDU students visited Csángóföld with the support of Pannónia Scholarship Programme

By 2025.06.21.No Comments

On Saturday, the fourth-year folk dance students of the Hungarian Dance University (HDU) gave a performance at the National Dance Theatre. Since Monday, however, they have been on a study trip in Gyimesközéplok, supported by the Pannónia Scholarship Programme.

The folk dance students were joined on this trip by students from the bachelor’s programme in dance and rehearsal director as well as the master’s programme in dance pedagogy. Together with their three instructors, they are learning Gyimes dances from Csaba André.

The final day of the study trip will be spent in Őrkő, which is special because the students of the Folk Dance specialization already performed a choreography from Őrkő at their end-of-year exam and at the Educatio Exhibition in January. Now they are “bringing it back” to present their knowledge to the locals in Őrkő.

A more detailed report is expected after they return home, but for now, we have received a small glimpse in the form of a few photos and a brief summary from the valley of the Tatros River.

We thank the Tempus Public Foundation for supporting the Pannónia Scholarship Programme.

Special thanks to Zita Szilágyi and Tibor Szabó for the photos.
