Hungarian Dance University staff receive state honors

On the occasion of August 20, Balázs Hankó, Minister of Culture and Innovation, Veronika Varga-Bajusz, Secretary of State for Higher Education, Vocational and Adult Education and Youth, as well as Magdolna Závogyán, Secretary of State for Culture, presented state honours and arts awards on Tuesday at Pesti Vigadó.

Knight’s Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit, Civil Division was awarded for outstanding work to:

Noémi Kulcsár, Harangozó Gyula Award-winning dancer and choreographer, Associate Professor at the Hungarian Dance University, and founder of the Kulcsár Noémi Tellabor company.

On Tuesday, at the Pesti Vigadó, Róbert Zsigó, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation, presented state honors on the occasion of August 20, together with Anita Kiss-Hegyi, Secretary of State for Cultural Relations.

In recognition of their outstanding contributions, they were awarded the Hungarian Golden Cross of Merit, Civil Division:

  • János Appelshoffer, Harangozó Gyula Award-winning dancer, folk dance educator, choreographer, Associate Lecturer at the Hungarian Dance University, and dancer with the Fordulj Kispej Lovam folk dance ensemble.
  • Eszter Kazinczy, dancer and ballet master, Honorary Associate Professor and Master Instructor at the Hungarian Dance University.

An award was also presented to Andrea Paolini Merlo, dancer, choreographer, ballet master, and photographer, as well as a board member of the National Association of Dance Educators, who regularly collaborates with the university.

In recognition of her outstanding contribution the Hungarian Bronze Cross of Merit, Civil Division was awarded to:

  • Katalin Barabás, Secretary of the Dance Artist Training Institute at the Hungarian Dance University.
