Preview of a modern exam concert: Applaud, but only a lot and loudly

By 2025.05.22.No Comments

The graduating modern dance students of the Institute of Dance Arts will perform their exam concert on June 6, 2025, at the National Dance Theatre, marking the completion of their studies at the Hungarian Dance University. The dress rehearsal for this important event took place on May 15 at the Dance Theatre, primarily attended by parents and family members. This was the first time the full programme of the exam concert was set up.

The presentation of the full programme was, of course, a challenging day for the students, but it was also a full house and a great success.

Before the event, Tamás Csizmadia, the head of the year and master teacher, gave a speech. Here are some extracts from the speech.

“…Together with the 17 dance artist candidates standing behind the curtain, we’ve been through four years — through good times and bad. As I like to call them: the ‘Sunny Dance Company.’ Over these four years, they have matured into a true ensemble, and today they will prove that to you. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the university and guest teachers, choreographers, high school teachers — and everyone, from the basement to the attic — who have supported the students in their professional and personal development.”

The head of the year, who is also the new head of the University’s Arts Management program, added that the performance is not an exam, but a true celebration of dance. And so it was — no wonder his request was honored as well: ‘Applaud — but only a lot, and loudly!
