Professional teacher training in three types of dance

By 2025.04.07.No Comments

The Hungarian Dance University is once again launching a professional teacher training programme in the three movement languages of dance: folk dance, ballroom dance, and fashion dance.

This 30-hour training introduces the latest trends in professional methodology and holistic personality development. It also supports the continuous professional growth of dance educators. Applicants must hold a diploma in dance pedagogy or dance education to be eligible for the program.

Date of the training: 24-25 April, 2025

These teacher competency development programmes, focusing on pedagogical methodology and didactics, are primarily designed for dance educators working in basic-level arts education.

The goal of the training is not only to present the most up-to-date dance pedagogical methodologies, but also to introduce participants to current theoretical and practical trends in educating through dance and for dance.

This knowledge will help educators achieve more meaningful educational outcomes in the complex personality development and artistic education tasks characteristic of basic-level art schools.

In addition, the aim of the training is to present the methodological supplements and structural framework of the curriculum for the preparatory and basic levels of basic arts education (AMI).

The curriculum has been organized into thematic units, in lne with contemporary pedagogical practices, and is supported by a collection of practical exercises to help educators meet professional advancement requirements.

The primary direction of the curriculum update is the introduction of new trends and methods that support learning, promote health, and prevent injuries – both in theory and in practice.

The curriculum for the preparatory levels has been enriched with a variety of playful exercises and creative children’s dance activities, all of which foster motor and personality development.

The curriculum for the basic level of arts education has been restructured, with practical examples that focus on exercises essential for the successful delivery of the content.

Thanks to its complexity, the training program fills an important gap and serves as an essential resource for professional development and preparation for the teacher qualification process.

Beyond knowledge-based instruction, the training is designed to foster practical, applicable skills. It also supports the development of two key traits of a professional teaching identity: adaptability and reflexivity. Through this, participants are guided toward continuous self-improvement and lifelong professional growth.

Conditions for the issuance of the certificate:

The training consists of 30 hours, with a minimum attendance requirement of 90% of the total hours. The final component of the training includes a written assignment (preparing two lesson plans/lesson outlines), as well as a practical and oral theoretical exam. During this, participants will demonstrate their acquired knowledge from the course, their ability to plan and organize pedagogical processes, and their updated methodological knowledge.
The training fee is 179,000 HUF.
The training will commence with the following minimum number of participants:

  • Folk dance: 20 participants
  • Ballroom dance: 16 participants
  • Fashion dance: 10 participants
