Dance Artist (BA) – Classical ballet specialisation

In its classical ballet specialisation, the Dance Artist Institute of the Hungarian Dance University aims to educate all-round ballet artists who are familiar with several dance styles and have up-to-date knowledge besides classical ballet and can have a professional career in Hungary and abroad. Our focal point is overseeing talents, preparing for a long-term, injury-free artistic work, forming high technical skills, and a sensitive, artistic approach. Similarly, providing as much stage practice as possible is also of crucial importance. The specialisation is primarily based on the university’s preparatory programmes but talented students from secondary art schools are also welcome. They are supposed to have the required technical skills (the first six years of the Vaganova method). Continuing the subjects of the preparatory courses and theoretical subjects, pas de deux, contemporary ballet, contemporary dance and acting are also part of the curriculum. Students enter a qualifying examination at the end of the fifth semester. The program ends in the sixth semester with a thesis and a final stage exam.
