Folk Dance Artist MA

The dance artist MA is a programme for training folk dance artists who are capable of handling their dance technical skills and theoretical knowledge in unity. Besides dance, folk dance artists have a reliable understanding and practice of singing, folk music and folklore. As members of ensembles and solo artists, they spread and serve Hungarian and universal dance culture. Their everyday practice activity is accompanied by an individual stage practice, realised in theatres and ensembles. Their high level of competence enables them to continue their studies in a PhD programme.

The programme aims to educate dance artists who are capable of handling their dance technical skills and theoretical knowledge in unity. They are capable of creating complex artistic performances. As leading dancers of ensembles or solo artists, they spread and serve dance culture in the Hungarian and international dance scene. They can take up a role of initiation in cultural institutions, representing the specific values of folk dance art and fostering national identity. If coupled with a vocation of pedagogy, following additional training for a teacher’s MA, they can participate in educating future generations and folk dance artists. Their high level of competence enables them to continue their studies in a doctorate course.
