The Hungarian Dance University (HDU) announces auditions for the 2025/2026 academic year for preparatory courses in higher-level dance education, specializing in classical ballet and theatrical dance programs. The auditions will take place on May 24, 2025, and May 10, 2025.

Applicants for the classical ballet specialization program’s audition are primarily girls and boys who will complete the 4th grade at primary school in the 2024/2025 academic year and are no older than 12.

Once the audition is passed successfully, the nine-year ballet training prepares students for a professional dance career, with the first six years serving as preparatory, followed by three years of higher education undergraduate studies. Graduates will receive a university BA degree at the end of their studies.

The students, alongside their daily (including regular stage performances) professional practical training, complete their general education studies at the university’s eight-grade Nádasi Ferenc High School. On the Columbus street campus, dormitory accommodation can be provided upon request.

The preparatory training in theatrical dance prepares students for a professional dance career and includes daily (5-6 hours) practical training. During the program, students learn a variety of modern and theatrical dance techniques alongside classical ballet. They also receive training in acting and singing, and participate in performances for various purposes and profiles.

The duration of the training is five years, with the first two years being preparatory. Following this, upon successful completion of the audition, students participate in a three-year higher education undergraduate program (“Bachelor” Program), which provides a BA degree. Alongside their professional training, students complete their secondary education at the university’s Nádasi Ferenc High School and obtain a high school diploma. Dormitory accommodation is provided for students upon request. (Both the high school and the dormitory are located on the Columbus Street campus.)
