Márton Balog’s success and outstanding achievements by HDU students in Sibiu

The Sibiu Ballet Competition took place in Transylvania, in Sibiu, from October 17 to 19, where students from the Hungarian Dance University (HDU) achieved excellent results, returning home with one first-place and three third-place awards.

The HDU students were accompanied to the Sibiu Ballet Competition by Zoltán Oláh, Kossuth Prize-winning ballet artist and university professor.

At the event, Márton Balog, a sixth-year student, won first place in the senior solo category and gained excellent opportunities for further development. His instructor and year coordinator is József Medvecz.

In addition, Márton Balog received invitations to the Art in Motion Munich course from the distinguished master Jan Broeckx, who previously also served on the jury of the Budapest Ballet Grand Prix; to the European School of Ballet; to the Palucca School Dresden; and to San Remo. Anarella Sanchez also invited him to her school for one week.

Furthermore, in recognition of his achievements, he received the following awards: two free entries + registration to YAGP, one free entrance to the Grand Jeté International Dance Awards, and an invitation to Tanzolymp Berlin 2026.

In the pas de deux category, Natsuki Itoh and Levente Bajusz, ninth-year students, achieved third place. Their instructor and year coordinator were Eszter Kazinczy and Zoltán Oláh. In addition, Natsuki Itoh and Levente Bajusz received invitations to Sibiu and Brno to join ballet companies for practical training.

Bianca Guzu, a seventh-year student, ranked among the top 10 competitors in the senior solo category. Her year coordinator and ballet master was Márta Fodor-Molnár, and her instructors were Márta Fodor-Molnár and Katalin Volf. Additionally, Bianca Guzu received invitations to the Grand Jeté International Dance Awards and the Intensive Dance Workshop in Dresden.

Boglárka Balogh, a fifth-year student, achieved third place in the junior solo category. Her instructor and year coordinator was Eszter Pataki-Tóth. In addition, Boglárka won a one-week course at the European School of Ballet and received invitations to Tanzolymp Berlin 2026 and the Grand Jeté International Dance Awards.
