
International Dance Day as celebrated on the evening of April 29 at the National Dance Theatre with a gala performance and the presentation of professional awards. At the press conference held for the occasion, the Hungarian Dance Artists’ Association announced this year’s award recipients, presented the programs of upcoming dance festivals, highlighted key events in the near future, and outlined the National Dance Theatre’s repertoire and premieres.
The Hungarian Dance Artists’ Association recognizes each year those artists and creators whose outstanding work shapes the national dance scene.
The Best Creator of the Year awards were given to ballet artist, choreographer, and director Bozsik Yvette, dancer and choreographer Alexandra Sághy, and dancer and choreographer Krisztina Szőllősi. The lifetime achievement awards were presented to dance historian and critic Zsuzsanna Kővágó, and to dancer, choreographer, and director Zoltán Zsuráfszky.
