Two extraordinary weeks have come to an end at the Hungarian Dance University’s Diaspora Folk Dance Summer University. During this time, participants not only gained new knowledge but also learned a great deal from one another, shared their experiences, and formed lasting friendships.
Everyone gave their very best to take the knowledge they acquired back to their own communities, where they can continue to work, dance, and teach Hungarian folk dance. Our shared goal is to preserve and promote Hungarian folk culture and traditions within Hungarian communities around the world.
The summer university’s high standards, university-level training, and outstanding faculty ensured a rewarding and enriching experience for all participants.
Alejandra Brum, the main organizer of the Diaspora Summer University, summarized the past days as follows:
“Organizing this course for Hungarians living in the diaspora is a great source of pride for me. These are people who preserve and pass on Hungarian culture through folk dance. We tailored the course to the participants’ needs and level of knowledge so that everyone could learn as much as possible and take home useful methods and tools for conscious folk dance education. This is the most important thing for me. There were many opportunities for discussion and sharing experiences. Everyone had the chance to present their own work and the challenges they face. I believe this exchange of experiences was extremely valuable for all participants.”
