On the occasion of International Dance Day, the Croatian Cultural Council and the Croatian Association of Folklore Festivals organized a professional roundtable discussion in Zagreb titled “The Needs of Formal Education in Amateur Folklore Activities.” The event placed special emphasis on the decades of educational experience and the internationally recognized methodological work of the Hungarian Dance University.

As an invited speaker at the event held on May 6, Dr Henrik Kovács, Associate Professor of the Department of Folk Dance, delivered a presentation introducing the structure of Hungarian higher education in folk dance, its professional achievements, and its network of cooperation with the amateur folklore movement.

The university’s experience and best practices also served as an inspiring example for the Croatian professional community.
